NBA: Cleveland Cavaliers thrash Boston Celtics in historic victory

The Cleveland Cavaliers have shoved the Boston Celtics into a deep hole in the Eastern Conference finals after running away with a record 130-86 victory in game two.

Led by the juggernaut that is LeBron James, who was earlier snubbed as a finalist for the regular season Most Valuable Player award, the Cavs swept the Celtics off their home court in emphatic fashion.

After easily taking game one, the Cavs were at their imperious best with James (30 points and seven assists) superbly supported by the other two members of the ‘big three’ - Kevin Love (21 points and 12 rebounds) and Kyrie Irving (23 points).

It was a night the record books will not soon forget with the Cavs leading by a record 41 points at halftime and eventually cruising to a record-equalling 13th-straight playoff victory.

The records also tumbled for the Celtics with the crushing loss the franchise’s worst ever home playoff defeat.

It didn’t start well for the No.1 seeds who trailed by 14 points by the end of the first quarter.

And their night - and possibly the series - was sunk when star point guard Isaiah Thomas limped off with a hip injury.

The Cavs will have the chance to sweep the series when they head home to Cleveland for games three and four.
