Brooklyn Nets star Caris LeVert stretchered off following horror lower leg injury

The NBA world has been left stunned after Brooklyn Nets star Caris LeVert was stretchered off following a horror lower leg injury.

The incident took place with just seconds to go in the second quarter in the Nets’ clash against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

LeVert was attempting to block a layup attempt from Minnesota rookie Josh Okogie when his right leg landed awkwardly and gave way.

Replays later showed the severity of the injury and the game was stopped while LeVert was attended to by the medical staff inside Target Center.

Per ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski, LeVert was immediately taken to a nearby Minneapolis hospital/trauma center to undergo evaluation on his right leg.

The injury comes at an extremely unfortunate time for both LeVert and the Nets, with the 24-year-old having put together career-best numbers to start the season.

In 13 starts so far this season, LeVert averaged 19.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the field.

The injury comes after the former Michigan star had put together two injury-free seasons in the league after a multitude of foot injuries during his four-year college career.

Following the injury, several of the league’s stars took to their social media accounts to send the promising young forward their wishes, including Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George who suffered a similar injury back in 2014.
