Reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry was ejected from game six of the NBA Finals and could face a possible suspension after throwing his mouthguard at a fan.

Curry fouled out for the first time in his career late in the fourth quarter and in a fit of frustration threw his mouthguard into the crowd.

He quickly apologised to the fan when he realised when he realised it had hit a man in a courtside seat, but it wasn't a good look for one of the good guys of the league.

The outburst came in the face of a monumental display from Cleveland's LeBron James who posted 41 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds on the night as the Cavaliers swept to a 115-101 win.

Any potential suspension of the NBA MVP would greatly reduce Golden State's chances of winning game seven and clinching back-to-back titles.
