NBA's Antetokounmpo brothers start mandatory military service

Brothers Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo have taken a hiatus from their high-flying NBA careers to take up arms as part of their mandatory military service.

Dressed in their army fatigues Milwaukee Bucks player, Giannis, and Thanasis of the Westchester Knicks, have both started their three-months of service that all Greeks living overseas are required to perform.

So instead of enjoying the sunshine of the Caribbean, their off-season will be spent in... the sunshine of Greece - it's not really that much of a trade-off.

They are expected to be completing their service at an armour training centre.

But because they are professional athletes they could have their three-months terms cut down so they can get back to the training court to prepare for the season.
