A shocking accusation surrounding the ugly exit of former Opals superstar Liz Cambage has been backed up by ex-captain Jenna O'Hea.

Cambage cited mental health reasons when she withdrew from Australia's Tokyo Olympics campaign on the cusp of the Games, but the full context behind her departure has remained murky.

When ABC Offsiders host Kelli Underwood posed a disturbing question to O'Hea on the Sunday program, the former skipper declared the allegation true.

"This all started in that training game or that pre-Olympics game when you played Nigeria, and it's never really emerged what happened, but I've had it confirmed from a few sources," Underwood said.

"Is it correct that you were playing Nigeria and Liz Cambage had her feathers ruffled and she turned to them and said, 'go back to your third-world country'?

"Of course, Eziyoda Magbegor is originally Nigerian – a Nigerian living in Australia and playing for your team.

"As a result there was a brawl that erupted and since then you haven't spoken to her."

O'Hea replied: "That is all 100 per cent correct".

Cambage has not yet responded to this new public allegation.

O'Hea was just as resolute when asked by Offsiders panelist Caroline Wilson if Cambage would ever play for Australia again.

"No," O'Hea said.

It was also alleged ahead of the Tokyo Olympics that Cambage had broken COVID-19 biosecurity protocols.

The towering centre is playing with the Los Angeles Sparks and suggested last week that she had no interest in donning green and gold again.

"I'm living my best life, I'm supported, I'm protected on a level that the Opals or the Australian team never gave to me," Cambage said.

"My heart lies with those who want to protect me and those who want me to be the best I can be, and I never felt that at the Opals at all.

"So, yeah, I'm good."
