Goalkeeper cops karate kick to face

A goalkeeper in Brazil is nursing facial bruising after taking a kick directly to his face.

Julio Cesar, who plays for Club de Regatas in Brazil's second-tier competition, had moved off his line to clear a cross in a match against Bragantino.While he did manage to get a fist on the ball before anyone else, Bragantino striker Oliviera Prado Isaac had also committed to the cross and was mid-air, with one foot flying toward the target, when Cesar came soaring in the opposite direction.The resulting collision saw the studs of Isaac's boot crunch into Cesar's face, leaving the goalie sprawled on the pitch, seemingly unconscious.The match referee showed Isaac an immediate yellow card for the crude attempt at a strike, but changed that to a red card after consulting fellow officials.Miraculously, Cesar managed to dust himself off and see-out the remaining 10 minutes of the match, that his side won 2-0.
