Crocs' Conklin suspended over NBL elbow

Townsville's Brian Conklin will miss the Crocodiles' next NBL match after he was found guilty of striking Adelaide 36er Mitchell Creek with an elbow.

The incident occurred in the second quarter of the Crocodiles' loss to the 36ers at Titanium Security Arena.

Conklin entered a plea of not guilty, however NBL tribunal chairman Tony Nolan QC found against him with a three-game suspension handed down as a penalty, two of which are suspended until the end of the 2015/16 NBL season.

The two-game suspension will come into effect should Conklin be found guilty of any physical charge during the remainder of the season.

This rules Conklin out of Townsville's next game against Melbourne on Friday.

Meanwhile the tribunal found Perth Wildcats player Nathan Jawai guilty of striking Tom Abercrombie in the Wildcats game against the New Zealand Breakers in round six.

Nolan was satisfied that Jawai struck in a reckless manner, and did not accept that it was a legitimate attempt to block the shot of Abercrombie.

A penalty of $1,000 was imposed but Jawai did not receive a suspension.
