Golf champ Bubba Watson's freak half-court fail

As one of the world's best golfers Bubba Watson is acutely aware of the near-misses that separate champions from the also-rans.

After all, golf is one of sport's precision games in which mere millimetres can be the difference in making or missing a putt and deciding the size of your next pay day. 

Like all golfers Bubba's had his fair share of misses, but when he was asked to transfer his hand-eye coordination onto the basketball court this week, not even he could have imagined the cruel twist of fate that awaited.

Watson was challenged with a half-court shot during Orlando's clash against Brooklyn and when he launched from the centre line he appeared dead on target.

Unfortunately, he didn't make it.. but something extraordinary did happen.

Bubba actually nailed what is known as a 'wedgie', when the ball gets stuck between the ring and the backboard.

It's a relatively rare sight in basketball and quite possibly something that no other pro golfer has managed on live television. 

For that, Bubba still made the highlights reel.
