Brawl breaks out in women's basketball game

A huge brawl broke out during a women's college basketball game in the US, leading to three players being ejected from the court.

The heated local rivalry between Auburn and Alabama erupted into violence with just over one minute remaining in the first period, when Auburn's Hasina Muhammad tangled with opponent Breanna Hayden following a free throw.

Replays suggested that Hayden threw a punch that connected with Muhammad's face, while an official was also knocked to the floor during the ensuing melee.

The game was subsequently delayed for 20 minutes, with both Hayden and Muhammad ejected from the court, along with Alabama's Meoshonti Knight, who was ejected for leaving the bench.

Alabama eventually held on for a 51-50 win.
