Australian NBA superstar Ben Simmons is “pissed off” despite notching his sixteenth career triple-double in the Philadelphia 76ers 131-109 victory over the New York Knicks.

The prodigious 22-year-old ran the floor on Thursday afternoon leading the 76ers to a crucial bounce-back victory after capitulating to the Spurs earlier in the week.

But despite his historic numbers, and a scintillating 13 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assist performance, the Aussie was unsatisfied.

“I came out with a different mindset [in the second half],” Simmons told reporters post-game.

“I was pissed off with the way I was performing. I don’t think I played well at all tonight. If you look at the numbers, obviously it’s a triple-double, but in my head, I didn’t play well.”

That view sat in stark contrast to teammate Joel Embiid who had nothing but praise for his point-guard, helping him dominate the paint with a huge 24 and 10.

“He’s been amazing,” the Cameroonian centre said following the game.

“He’s been doing a great job, he’s going to keep on getting better, and he’s going to take us to another level.”

Elsewhere Australian sharpshooter Joe Ingles has run riot over reigning NBA champions the Golden State Warriors as he led his humble Utah Jazz to a scintillating 108-103 victory.

Ingles’ team-high 20-point haul kept the Warriors at bay as the Aussie locked his eye going 4-9 from three and 7-13 from the field.
