Basketballer stuns with 'alley-oop of the year'

A former Harlem Globetrotter has slammed home a spectacular self-assist, bounce dunk which is being hailed the "alley-oop of the year".

Angelo Sharpless was playing a game at a North Carolina high school when he brought the crowd to its feet with the sublime passage of play.

In footage of the ACC Barnstorming Tour at Walkertown, Sharpless slams the ball into the court, bouncing it over a defender who is racing to close him down.

He then sidestep his bamboozled rival, leaps into the air and slams the ball home, swinging off the ring as he soaks in the adulation.

The dunk was immediately elevated into the conversation for best plays with some media outlets describing it as the "alley-oop of the year".
