Basketball player hits amazing buzzer-beater

A US college basketball player is being hailed a campus hero after his incredible 23-metre buzzer-beater snatched an unlikely win from the jaws of defeat.

George Mason Patriots were hosting last year’s NCAA finalists, the Manhattan Jaspers, when the game seemed to be gone with less than three seconds to play.

Leading by two points, Jasper’s Shane Richardson had the chance to all but seal the win for the visitors after being sent to the free-throw line.

But Richardson could only nail one of his two shots, giving the Patriots a glimmer of hope.

And that’s all Jalen Jenkins needed.

Grabbing the rebound, Jenkins takes one dribble and then launces an absolute Hail Mary of a bomb, incredibly sinking the game winning shot as the buzzer sounds throughout the arena.

Jenkins is quickly swamped by his jubilant teammates who had earlier fought their way back from an eight-point deficit with just 80 seconds to play to win a 64-63 thriller.
