A college basketball cult hero's dancing days could be over after he dropped a young fan down a flight of stairs.

Darren Moscoe, better known as the 'Boogie Man' to Kentucky Wildcats' fans, has been thrilling audiences at Rupp Arena with his unique moves since 2009.

The 50-year-old appears in section 19 of the stadium, usually in the first or second TV break of the second half, after being summoned by the Tommy James hit Mony Mony.

However, Moscoe's entertaining career may have come to a grinding halt after his performance midway through the match against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Starting his now famous routine, Moscoe was joined by a young fan hoping to show off her dance moves.

But Moscoe had a different idea, scooping the young girl up and carrying her in his arms while sliding down the rail.

But the foot-loose 'Boogie Man' lost his balance and quickly became an out-of-control menace.

And the light-hearted moment turned into a terrifying situation when he crashed over and dropped the girl down the steps.

Luckily nobody was injured in the accident but Moscoe was escorted out of the stadium by security.

He later took to Twitter to make a tearful apology to the young fan.
