Aussie Mitch Creek stars for Nets

Australian basketballer Mitch Creek has scored a double-double to help his Long Island Nets continue their march towards a potential G League title.

The Nets crushed the Raptors905 112-99 in the eastern conference semi-final to move on to Tuesday's knockout conference title game against the Lakeland Magic.

The winner will play for the championship against the G League's western conference champions in a three-game series starting April 7.

Former Adelaide 36ers' star Creek had 13 points, 12 rebounds and three assists in the victory over Raptors905, the Toronto Raptors' G League affiliate.

Creek had a taste of the NBA this season with two 10-day contracts with the New Jersey Nets.

Long Island were buoyed by the announcement before Friday's game that their coach, Will Weaver, was named G League Coach of the Year.

Weaver, an assistant for Australia's Boomers, will be leaving the G League to coach the Sydney Kings for the coming NBL season.

Long Island had the best record in the eastern conference heading into the playoffs with 34 wins, 16 losses.
