Baylor University, inspired by tenacious defence from Australian guard Kristy Wallace, fell short of a dramatic comeback win in their NCAA basketball tournament quarter-final.

Oregon State held on to upset No.1 seed Baylor, who were on a 23-game winning streak, 60-57 in Dallas on Monday and will face Connecticut in next weekend's semi-final.

With Baylor down 34-25 at halftime coach Kim Mulkey went to Queenslander Wallace who came off the bench and harassed Oregon's guards, forcing turnovers and sparking the comeback.
