NBA: Andrew Bogut fires up at LA Lakers in aftermath of Magic Johnson explosive interview

Andrew Bogut has fired a shot at his former team the Los Angeles Lakers in the aftermath of ex-president of basketball operations Magic Johnson’s public take down of the organisation.

It was a shocking year for the esteemed franchise who failed to make the playoffs even with the acquisition of NBA superstar of LeBron James.

Johnson, who endured a trying year at the helm called it quits just weeks ago in a hastily arranged press-conference where the three-time NBA MVP almost looked relieved to wash his hands of a drama filled season.

On Monday night, Johnson made a special appearance on ESPN where he stunned the NBA world with a very candid and frank discussion about his perception on everything wrong at the Lakers – as he took aim at, namely one man, General Manager Rob Pelinka.

“I wasn’t having fun coming to work anymore,” the Lakers legend said, “especially when I gotta work beside (Pelinka), knowing that you want my position.

“I didn’t like those things (Pelinka) was saying behind my back, that I wasn’t in the office enough,” Johnson said. “So I started getting calls from my friends outside of basketball saying those things now were said to them. … Not just in the Lakers, into the media and so on.”

“If you want to elevate yourself, I’m all for that…But there’s a way to get that, and it’s not talking about the person that’s above you.”

That prompted Australian NBA star Andrew Bogut to chime in.

Bogut publicly slammed the Lakers earlier this year when he was questioned about his bizarre short stint at the franchise last season which ended abruptly when he was suddenly waived midseason.

The Aussie is racing toward another title with the Golden State Warriors but still managed to find time to respond to the explosive claims.

“No one ever wants to hear ‘I told you so’, but.....,” He Tweeted.

According to Bogut, the Lakers gave he and his agent David Bauman assurances he would not be waived either for financial reasons or to clear up playing time for the team's younger players.

"The Lakers told me I’d be there the whole year,” Bogut told the Bay Area News Group. “They went against their word and waived me at the deadline. Whatever. That was their decision. “I was basically lied to.”

Despite the assurances given to Bogut, he appeared in just 24 games for the league's most famous franchise before he was waived on January 6, 2017, just four days before his contract would have become guaranteed for the remainder of the season.

"I took their word for that stupidly," Bogut said.

"It’s part of the business. But it’s disappointing because I have two young kids and all that. I was stupid enough to take their word on something I shouldn’t have."

On Tuesday Afternoon, Bogut was also innocently snubbed his teammates following the Warriors’ 4-0 series defeat over Portland.

Teammate Klay Thompson was in the Warriors' locker room celebrating his team's fifth straight trip to the NBA finals when, during an interview, he began naming some of the unsung members of his victorious squad.

Andrew Bogut was standing directly behind Thompson.

Bogut stands 213cm tall so is hard to miss but as Thompson rattled off team-mates' names he failed to mention the veteran Australian centre.

Bogut lent forward to jokingly remind Thompson he was still a member of the Warriors team.

"Boges! Sorry, bro," Thompson said, his mistake leading Bogut and the Warriors to chuckle.

The Warriors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers with a 119-117 overtime win in Portland on Monday.
