'I'm not scared of him': Corey 'Homicide' Williams doubles down as Andrew Bogut Twitter war turns ugly

Former NBL MVP turned commentator Corey "Homicide" Williams has refused to back down from Australian basketball superstar Andrew Bogut as their Twitter war turns ugly.

Williams, who played with the Townsville Crocodiles and the Melbourne Tigers between 2007 and 2011 and won the league's MVP in 2010 with the Tigers, sent Australian basketball into meltdown on Tuesday when he accused Bogut of hiring a private investigator to find out information on him.

"When you are the biggest basketball name in this country which is Andrew Bogut, and a loudmouth American guy is coming down talking all kinds of rubbish, you don't like it," Williams told SEN.

"Andrew Bogut and I got into some Twitter wars last year so what he did was hire an investigator to find out information about me, and all the investigator came back with was my name."

The New York native was born as Carey but changed his name to Corey after being teased at school during his youth.

Bogut was quick to dismiss Williams' claims in a stiff brush off on Twitter.

"Don't flatter yourself Carey. I would not waste a dime on a private investigator when it comes to a guy who routinely showed up to @nbl game day trainings stinking of alcohol," he wrote.

"BTW my investigators name is Wikipedia."

The NBL has refused to enter the Bogut and Williams beef as they confirmed that the commentator won't be dropped from the broadcast team for upcoming Sydney Kings games.

But on Wednesday Williams doubled down on his allegations that the Kings centre in fact hired a private investigator to dig into his past, and claimed he wasn't "scared" of continuing to call out Bogut online.

"I was not joking (about the investigator)," Williams told The Daily Telegraph. "I know he (Bogut) knows what it is and I know what it is.

"I found out that Bogut hired an investigator to find out about my nickname history.

"The person who told me that is more than a reliable source.

"Bogut also told the players to say Carey five times when I was interviewing them.

"That is fine – it is no big deal but that is how the conversation went."

Williams also claimed Bogut encouraged Australian Boomers players to repeatedly call him 'Carey' during World Cup warm-up matches earlier this year.

Bogut and Williams have repeatedly clashed on social media but the commentator said he doesn't hold any grudges.

"We give each other banter and that is it," he said.

"Andrew just doesn't like when anyone challenges him or says anything against him or to him.

"Most people will shut up or they are too scared to challenge him or go at him on social media.

"But if I have an opinion on something, I'll say it but I don't attack anybody.

"I'm not scared of Bogut."
