Baseball: Yankee Aaron Judge loses tooth celebrating victory in MLB

New York Yankee Aaron Judge may be counting the cost of the famous baseball club’s latest win after a part of his tooth was knocked out during victory celebrations in Major League Baseball.

The Yankees claimed one of the matches of the season when Brett Gardner clubbed a 122-metre, walk-off home run in the second extra innings to beat the Tampa Bay Rays.

The dramatic 6-5 victory was met with utter jubilation as the bench charged out to home plate to meet Gardner.

But then it all went wrong for Judge when the outfielder jumped straight into a stray helmet.

Slow motion replays of the incident show the true, painful damage with the helmet collecting Judge flush in the face.

“I guess my helmet hit him a little bit in the mouth, in the face,” Gardner told ESPN. 

“It wasn’t my fault. I threw it on the ground, and then I think he had it in his hand and somebody bumped into him and it hit him in the face.”

The blow left Judge cradling his mouth and stadium security scouring for the dental missile.

However, the injury isn’t expected to keep Judge out of the next match in the series against the Rays.
