It was a night to remember for Trevor Williams and the person he most wanted to share it with was his dad.

Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Williams took his first career major league win today and there was no one he wanted to share the moment with more than his dad.

In a touching moment that put all the emotion invested by both men into perspective, the gangly pitcher reached over the fence and hugged his dad, who seemed more excited than his son.

Williams then handed his old man the game ball and the older Williams looked down at it with teary eyes.

He said after the game that he didn't think it would get better than telling his dad the previous night that he would be getting his debut, but with the 4-3 win over the Cardinals it gave the youngster an even better moment to share.

"There’s no one else I would rather share that moment with than my dad," Williams told reporters int eh locker room after the game.

"He’s been with me since the very beginning, he’s taken me to Padres games when we were very young."
