Baseball field turns into winter wonderland
It takes just a few drops of rain to cancel a cricket game or at least pull the players from the field.
But when snow fell during a Major League Baseball match in Detroit this week, it was a case of batter up.
Detroit's Comerica Park resembled a winter wonderland as a light snow storm hit during a Tigers' clash with the New York Yankees.
Some of the players donned balaclavas under their caps to keep warm in the freezing conditions, while others continued playing in short sleeves.
The sight of snow falling during a baseball game left many US television viewers in shock.
Social media lit up with fans quick to take a dig at Detroit 's weather as snow fell less than six weeks before summer.
And strangely enough it was the home side who struggled most in the icy conditions with the Yankees claiming a 13-4 victory.
