Play delayed when bat is hurled into back stop netting in Phillies,Braves MLB match

Baseball fans were left frustrated by game delays after a bat was stuck in the backstop netting, leading to numerous attempts to retrieve it.

Philadelphia were taking on the Braves when Phillies third baseman Maikel Franco lost grip of his bat resulting in it being hurled into the barrier netting behind home plate.

No big deal right? They’ll just shake the netting and bat will fall back down and the match will resume?

Well no. It kind of ended up being annoying for the fans who were made to wait while officials did their best to try and get it down.

The commentators found it funny though.

“And there goes the bat and it hangs in the screen about 10 feet up … kind of like a fish caught in the net,” said one commentator.

Even the fans put in the work and tried to help out, with officials from both sides pulling on the netting to try and release the bat.

Eventually one of the security guards shook hard enough for the bat to come tumbling down onto the field.

When play did resume the Braves totally outplayed the Phillies, scoring a 3-1 win.
