Band member takes embarrassing spill

A US college band member had nowhere to hide when he embarrassingly fell flat on his face while running onto the field in front of a stadium packed with gridiron fans.

The University of Cincinnati Bearcats were battling it out with the Miami Hurricanes in Ohio on Friday (AEST) when the home side's band rushed from the stands and onto the field for a brief performance.

But the speed of their introduction caught out one unfortunate saxophonist who tripped over his own feet and face-planted in the end zone.

Despite the red faced moment, which was caught by American sports network ESPN, the musician, to his credit, picked himself up, righted his hat and continued running to his spot.

Nonetheless, he’ll be hoping the crowd left the field remembering the Bearcats' 34-23 win rather than his spill.
