Sahit Prizreni has qualified for his third Olympics and his first for Australia, becoming the fourth wrestler from his adopted country to secure a Rio berth.

Prizreni, who wrestled at the 2004 and 2008 Games for Albania, booked his place at this year's Olympics by reaching the final of the freestyle 65kg division at the African/Oceania Olympic qualifiers in Algeri on Sunday.

Fellow Victorian Talgat Ilyasov, who qualified for Athens in 2004 but had to withdraw due to injury, also clinched a start when he reached the final of the 74kg division.

Prizreni and Ilyasov will be joined in Rio by Greco Roman specialists Ivan Popov and Vinod Kumar, who qualified on Saturday.

Australia had only one wrestler in London four years ago.

"With almost no funding compared to all the other combat sports, Wrestling Australia has risen from the poor performance of 2012 to perform brilliantly in Algiers," Wrestling Australia high performance manager Alan Landy said.
