Athletics volunteer flattened by sprinters

An athletics volunteer has caused one of the most chaotic finishes ever seen in a race after inadvertently getting in the way of the runners.

The woman was working at the US National Indoors Titles when she made a last-ditch attempt to fix the finishing line tape in the second heat of the boys' 400m competition.Two runners were locked in an epic battle for the win and had no option to plough into the woman when she accidentally moved into their path.The result was a collision so hard that it sent her flying and both lead runners tumbling onto the track.The two others runners in the heat also fell, unable to miss the tangled mess of arms and legs in front of them.Making matters worse, the winner of the race, Taylor McLaughlin, ran a meet record of 46.50 but was later disqualified for a lane infraction.
