Aretha Franklin takes over four minutes to sing anthem
The Queen of Soul turned in a rendition of the US national anthem so long that even the host NFL broadcaster poked fun at it with a hilarious graphic.
Aretha Franklin was at her awesome best, but not everyone was thrilled by the fact she needed four minutes and thirty seconds to finish her epic performance prior to the Thanksgiving Day game between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.
The voice behind classics such as Respect, A Natural Woman and Think, showed she has still got it despite approaching her 75th birthday.

Some hated it while others had nothing but love. Others on Twitter just saw the opportunity to get a gag in.

With the anthem usually taking around two minutes to complete, Franklin went next level with piano and her own slant on the Star Spangled Banner.

Even Colin Kaepernick, the player who has sparked so much controversy by refusing to stand for the anthem, got a mention. One wag suggested he would have had to stand for at least some of Franklin's performance.
While there was mixed reviews about Franklin’s performance, her fashion choices must go down as a sure-fire winner with only a rock star of her calibre capable of pulling off the mink coat, beanie combination.
