Boxing: Anthony Mundine and Jeff Horn come to blows at official pre-fight weigh-in

Anthony Mundine and Jeff Horn had to be pulled apart at their official pre-fight weigh-in after the 43-year-old veteran took a swipe at his opponent during the face-off.

Mundine looked keyed up from the get go, bellowing as he took to the scales for an official reading of 70.25kg.

Horn, looking significantly bulkier, came in at 70.5kg as both fighters satisfied the agreed catchweight of 71kg.

However, tempers flared during the final face-off when the pair came nose to nose. Horn appeared to lean forward and whisper something into the veterans ear prompting Mundine to shove him backwards by the throat, sending him crashing him into his trainer Glenn Rushton.

Mundine had to be restrained by his trainers as he began blasting Horn.

“I’m just fired up man, I didn’t mean no harm. I’m a caged lion right now,” Mundine roared.

"I'm ready to eat him."

The agreed weight of 71kg was a concern for Mundine's camp, with the former world champ traditionally having fought between 76-80kg. 

Horn’s camp demanded severe penalties if either fighter failed to make weight. Mundine faced the prospect of coughing up $350,000 for the first kilogram over weight and $500,000 for any further after that.

The 30-year-old didn't seemed to be fazed by the veteran's outburst which he shrugged off as frustration at coming in leaner than usual.

"He must be struggling to make weight with the push there," the 30-year-old said.

"I'm usually in the position he is ... this time I'm feeling good."

Horn is out to rebuild his reputation after a humbling defeat to American Terence Crawford in June.

Mundine is competing in possibly the last professional fight of his 18-year career.

Friday's fight is scheduled to start at approximately 9.30pm with a crowd of about 25,000 expected.
