Another lay day called in Hawaii

Australians Tyler Wright and Dimity Stoyle may have to wait at least a couple of days before kicking off the final event of the World Surfing League in Hawaii.

A third consecutive lay day was called at the event on Monday, with small swell at Honolua Bay in Maui again preventing a start to the contest and no improvement expected until later in the week.

"Right now it's pretty flat, there's nothing on offer," (WSL deputy commissioner Jessi Miley-Dyer said.

Wright and Stoyle are scheduled to face off in the competition's first heat, while fellow Australians Keely Andrew and Sally Fitzgibbons will also compete.

Local Hawaiian Carissa Moore is top of the standings as she looks to claim her third world title, with only American Courtney Conlogue her only rival to the crown.
