AFL Women's trio facing suspension

Three AFL Women's players are facing suspensions after being charged by the match review panel for incidents in the inaugural opening round.

Western Bulldogs midfielder Kirsty Lamb and Fremantle's Ebony Antonio have each been charged with rough conduct during Saturday night's match at Whitten Oval, with both incidents classed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head.

Melbourne's Richelle Cranston has been charged with front-on contact after barrelling into Brisbane's Jamie Stanton during Sunday's clash at Casey Fields, leaving the midfielder with an injured shoulder.

All three can accept one-game bans with an early guilty plea.

The trio each risk being suspended for two games if they opt to face the tribunal and their challenges are unsuccessful.

Unlike their male counterparts, the AFLW players are not subject to fines because of the league's part-time nature.

The six-member women's match review panel includes former Australian netball captain Sharelle McMahon and former Collingwood premiership player Luke Ball.
