Port Adelaide will lose two assistant coaches at the end of the AFL season with Matthew Nicks and Aaron Greaves to depart the club.

Nicks, who has been with Port since 2011, has been linked with a move to rivals GWS, while Greaves, who has been Port's head of football development for the past two years and with the club for five years, is returning to his native Victoria.

Port's football operations manager Chris Davis says the club isn't surprised at losing the duo after ongoing discussions through the year.

And he says there's no qualms with the duo fulfilling their contracts until the season's end before departing.

"(They are) two fantastic guys who will give their all for the club for the remainder of this year, as they have for the previous eight and five respectively," Davies said on Monday.

"They're contracted to the end of this year ... and we believe that both people are of sufficient character that they can continue to do their job and focus on our football club before they turn their attention to wherever they go next."
