AFL round eight tips: Winless Eagles predicted to send Melbourne's season off the deep end

West Coast could be set to send Melbourne's season spiralling on Saturday night, with Nine expert tipster Tony Jones backing the Eagles to secure their first win of 2025.

They've beaten Fremantle at the MCG and Richmond in the last fortnight, with the Eagles in Perth looming as a banana peel game.

West Coast won the last encounter between these two teams in Perth back in round 10 of 2024, though the Dees had won three in a row over the Eagles at Optus Stadium before that.

Round eight looms large for numerous teams, with Carlton looking to prove their bona fides against Adelaide in South Australia, while North Melbourne simply must bring the fight to Essendon after a week in the spotlight.

The weekend concludes with crosstown rivalry matchups between Sydney and GWS, with both teams currently a step away from their best and desperate for four points, and potentially the biggest Q-Clash in history.

Brisbane and Gold Coast meet in a battle between second and third, though the Suns have only beaten the Lions once since 2018.

The Suns will be hoping to prove they belong in the top eight mix in 2025.
