Dangerfield cleared by AFL MRP

Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield remains eligible to win this year's Brownlow Medal after the AFL's match review panel reviewed his scuffle with St Kilda's Jarryn Geary.

Dangerfield caught Geary in the head with his knee as he attempted to break free of a tackle, during the Cats' shock loss to the Saints at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

But the MRP assessed the contact as accidental, as a result the red-hot Brownlow Medal favourite is still able to take out the game's highest individual prize.

North Melbourne's Michael Firrito was the only player to fall foul of the MRP after their assessment of round 14 AFL action.

The veteran Roo can accept a $1,000 fine for striking Adelaide's Mitch McGovern during the third quarter of North's 33-point loss to the Crows at Adelaide Oval on Thursday night.

Richmond's Jacob Townsend was also cleared of any wrongdoing after he was involved in a collision that left Brisbane's Mitch Robinson concussed.

The Lions midfielder was knocked out of the game in the second quarter, with the MRP ruling both players were legitimately trying to win possession of the ball.
