Suns out to burn Lions' 'Mozzie' squad

Gold Coast defender Kade Kolodjashnij is getting out the bug spray.

The Suns youngster believes halting Brisbane's "Mozzie Squad" will be the key to securing victory in Saturday's AFL derby at the Gabba.

Gold Coast head up the M1 with a perfect 3-0 record so far this AFL season but are wary of having their winning run halted by a fired-up Lions outfit seeking its first victory of the campaign.

Kolodjashnij says grounding the small forward trio of Josh Green, Dayne Zorko and Lewis Taylor is vital if the Suns are to realise their favourite's tag.

"They're a quick and lightning forward line," Kolodjashnij said.

"They like to get it on the ground and work their way back into the forward 50 so we'll have to be on our game this weekend to stop them.

"We've got a massive focus this week to defend first on the body and win the footy."

Victory for the Suns would mean they match their entire total of wins from last year.

Kolodjashnij says that turnaround is remarkable but also a result of hard work.

"Obviously it was a hard slog last year losing all those games but it's been a great pre-season," he said.

"It's been a positive pre-season and start to the year, but we've got to keep going now and work hard."
