Sun young gun suffers sickening head clash

Gold Coast Suns young gun Jack Martin has been stretchered off the field after a sickening head clash with Tigers Trent Cotchin at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Martin and Cotchin came together when they both chased a loose ball during the third quarter of the round 20 match.

But with both having only eyes for the ball, the two rivals ended up smashing into each other, leaving the Gold Coast player immediately clutching at his head.

Medics quickly rushed onto the field as a noticeable gash opened up on the half-forward's head.

In a worrying sign for both player and club, the former no.1 draft pick couldn't leave the field on his own feet and needed to be stretchered off on a cart.

Cotchin was able to resume the game without any medical assistance.
