Roos rookie floored by umpire

Kangaroos rookie Trent Dumont was left red-faced after being knocked to the turf following a collision with an AFL umpire.

The teenager was racing to tag a rival after a West Coast player was given a free kick when he bumped into umpire Ray Chamberlain midway through the second quarter of North Melbourne's clash with the Eagles on Sunday.

With his eyes locked on a rival Dumont was blindsided by Chamberlain, wearing his shoulder in the head and falling to the ground.

The youngster could be seen recovering on his hands and knees before eventually regaining his feet as he shook out the cobwebs.

Fortunately, it wasn't an omen for a bad day with the midfielder having the last laugh as the Roos claimed a vital 95-85 victory.

But the 19-year-old may well cop a ribbing from teammates during the week for coming off second best against Chamberlain.
