Port star Gray dodges AFL suspension

Robbie Gray is free to continue leading Port Adelaide's AFL finals charge after avoiding suspension for his off-the-ball bump on Orazio Fantasia.

Gray is one of seven players to have copped fines after match reviewer Michael Christian ran the rule over the round 20 games.

The four-time All-Australian laid out Fantasia while he was down on his knees during the Power's win over Essendon on Saturday afternoon.

He was fined $2000 for rough conduct, as was teammate Connor Rozee for a dangerous tackle on Aaron Francis.

Fantasia was able to play out the game and the incident was classified as low impact.

"The ball was 50 metres away and Orazio was not expecting contact, and nor should he have been expecting contact," Christian said.

The Power's big win over Essendon meant they ended the round ninth on the ladder, trailing eighth-placed Adelaide by four points.

Ken Hinkley's men host Sydney on Saturday then have games against North Melbourne and Fremantle to finish their season.

Fiery Hawthorn defender James Sicily copped the heftiest sanction of the round - a $3000 fine for striking North Melbourne's Mason Wood.

Richmond backman David Astbury and Geelong youngster Jordan Clark were each fined $2000 for striking incidents in their respective matches.

Christian also handed fines to Collingwood's Taylor Adams ($1500) and Carlton's Ed Curnow ($1000) for careless umpire contact.
