AFL 2017: Port Adelaide's Charlie Dixon use lesson learned against Geelong Cats to use against Hawthorn Hawks

A week after the most famous non-shot at goal the AFL has seen for several years, Port Adelaide forward Charlie Dixon responded to his calamitous error by kicking quickly – and truly – in his side’s clash with Hawthorn at the Adelaide Oval.

Dixon took too long to have a shot at goal at a crucial stage of the final quarter of last week’s two-point loss to Geelong.

He was swamped by Cats players while preparing to take a shot at goal after the umpire waved play-on after Dixon had exceeded the 30 second time limit.

So, when Dixon marked near the boundary line just two minutes into the match on Thursday night, he certainly didn’t dawdle.

After quickly getting back to his mark, he snapped truly to give the home side their first major of the night.
