Giants veteran Phil Davis to miss up to three months with serious hamstring tear
GWS Giants veteran Phil Davis could face up to three months on the sidelines after scans revealed the severity of the hamstring injury he sustained on Sunday.
Davis was helped off the MCG in the second quarter of the Giants' loss to Richmond after tearing his hamstring while chasing Tigers forward Noah Balta.
Scans confirmed Davis had suffered a grade three tear in his left hamstring, with the Giants set to explore surgery options for the veteran defender.

"Phil has been in fantastic form and was playing his typical brand of life and death defence when his hamstring stretched too far on a chase-down tackle," GWS head of medical services, James Rahme, said in a statement.

"It's disappointing for him given the work he's done over the off-season on his body and the way he was playing.
"We'll be seeking some specialist opinions this week for a more detailed prognosis on whether we go down the path of surgery. The time frame isn't expected to change whether we opt for surgery or a standard rest and rehabilitation.
"He's the ultimate professional so he'll get stuck into his rehab and we look forward to having him back on field in the second half of the year."
The 31-year-old signed a one-year extension midway through 2021 to extend his career into an 11th season with the Giants.
Davis was a part of the Giants' inaugural side back in 2012, and has played 171 games for the club after beginning his AFL career with Adelaide back in 2010.
