Paddy McCartin to miss 2020 season with continued concussion symptoms
Former No.1 pick Paddy McCartin has ruled himself out of playing in the 2020 season with the hope of resuming his career in 2021.
McCartin's continued concussion issues resulted in him mutually reaching the decision with St Kilda over the past fortnight after consultations with specialists in both Australia and abroad.
The decision will see the 23-year-old be delisted by St Kilda for 2020 with the hope of recovering fully and returning to the football field for the 2021 season.
According to AFL.com.au, the AFL is likely to approve the removal of the luckless forward from it's 2020 list this week.

Since 2014, McCartin has suffered a remarkable eight separate concussions, with the latest coming in the JLT Community Series prior to the 2019 season.
The concussion, which came against the Western Bulldogs, left McCartin unable to play a single match in 2019, and he has been unable to train since the injury.
While he won't be on the playing list, McCartin is still expected to be involved within the Saints, with a potential coaching role with the club's VFL affiliate Sandringham a possibility.
McCartin will also be expected to accept an ambassadorial role with an organisation linked to research around concussion or diabetes.
