Triple premiership Richmond hero announces retirement
Richmond defender Nathan Broad has announced his retirement, with the club confirming he will play his final game before the end of the season in round 23 against St Kilda at the MCG.
The 33-year-old played in all three of the Tigers’ grand final wins across 2017, 2019 and 2020 and was a key part of their success across that era.

In fact, he went down in the history books as the quickest V/AFL player to three premierships, reaching the mark after just 70 AFL games.
Broad played 189 games for Richmond after joining the club from Western Australia with pick 67 in the 2015 draft.
He had been linked with a potential move to West Coast or Fremantle at the end of the season, but ultimately opted to call time on his career.
“I am going to miss the most, walking to the ’G with the boys. The 10 minutes before you run out and put that guernsey on together and competing every week with you blokes,” Broad told the club’s website.
“It brought back some amazing memories on the weekend when (Sam) Lalor sealed the game and the Tiger Army erupted. This competition is better when the ‘Tiges’ are up and about.
“I know that this group can achieve something great, but it will not just happen. Talent can only get you so far in this game. Hard work, consistency and playing your role will take you to the next level.”
Broad was also a part of the return of AFL State of Origin, playing for Western Australia in February.
