West Coast premiership hero announces retirement at 30 after brutal injury run
West Coast premiership hero Dom Sheed has announced his retirement after 165 AFL games.
The 30-year-old has had a horrid run with injuries, having played just 24 games since the end of 2021.
He suffered a torn ACL in the pre-season, ending his 2025 campaign before it even began.

Sheed however will be immortalised in West Coast history, as the man who kicked the match-winning goal in the 2018 grand final against Collingwood.

In what will go down as one of the greatest passages of play in AFL history, it started with Jeremy McGovern's intercept mark in defence.
He kicked it to ruckman Nathan Vardy on the wing, who turned and bombed the ball to half forward where small forward Liam Ryan took a huge pack mark back with the flight of the ball.
Ryan played on and hit Sheed in the forward pocket, thanks to some mild assistance from Willie Rioli, who blocked Collingwood's Brayden Maynard from getting to the contest.
Sheed then went back and slotted the goal from the boundary to put West Coast in front with under two minutes left on the clock.

Commentator Brian Taylor described the kick as "inch perfect" as the midfielder turned to the bay of Collingwood supporters and gave it to them in the crowd.
Sheed was selected with pick 11 in the 2013 AFL draft and played the majority of his career as a midfielder.
With his retirement, only Liam Ryan remains at the Eagles from that incredible passage of play.
McGovern was forced into retirement earlier in the season by the league's concussion panel, Vardy's career ended in 2021 and Rioli was traded to Port Adelaide.
