West Coast investigating Liam Ryan over alleged involvement in wild Perth street brawl

Troubled West Coast Eagles premiership star Liam Ryan is once again at the centre of an investigation, this time over his alleged involvement in a wild street brawl.

A day after appearing in front of cameras at the unveiling of the Indigenous All-Stars jersey for the clash against Fremantle, footage emerged, allegedly of Ryan involved in a fight in front of several onlookers.

The footage was taken after a music festival in Fremantle on Wednesday night – the day before the media appearance promoting the All-Stars clash.

It's the second off-season incident the club has had to deal with after Reuben Ginbey was arrested and charged with public urination.

Ryan could find himself facing a stint on the sidelines. Richmond has laid a club-enforced four match ban on Noah Balta after he was charged with assault over an alleged late-night incident near the Victoria/New South Wales border.

In a statement, West Coast said it was aware of the incident and had advised the AFL's integrity unit.

"Liam and his partner Evana are safe, and Liam will continue with pre-season training on Friday morning," the statement read.

"The club is working to gather all the information, will support Liam throughout this process and will make no further comment at this time."

It's not the first time the 28-year-old has been involved in an off-field scandal.

In 2018, he was hospitalised after crashing his car into a tree while under the influence of alcohol. He was banned for two weeks by the club.

He faced court barely a week after winning the grand final. He was fined $1700 and had his licence suspended for 18 months.
