Geelong star Tom Stewart has avoided time on the sidelines for his bump on Port Adelaide's Ollie Wines.

The defender jumped in the air to block the Brownlow Medallist's handball, but crashed into the midfielder, collecting him high.

Wines stayed down after the collision, but ultimately played out the rest of the game.

Given how tough the MRO has been on head high contact, a suspension would not have been unexpected, but Stewart can accept a $2000 fine with an early plea.

A bump from North Melbourne's Cam Zurhaar on St Kilda's Rowan Marshall was also assessed, with the MRO labelling the contact "negligible" and opting not to fine the Roo.

North Melbourne forward Paul Curtis however has been slapped with a one-game suspension for striking St Kilda's Angus Hastie.

The incident occurred in the first quarter of his side's loss to the Saints, with the forward throwing a jab that caught Hastie on the jaw.

The punch was graded as low impact, which has saved Curtis from a lengthier ban, hence only missing one week.

It marks the second time Curtis has been suspended this season, after missing three weeks for a dangerous tackle previously.

Curtis will miss North's clash with GWS in round 22.
