Saints coach Ross Lyon 'concerned' for the game as Demons forward in hot water again

Melbourne forward Aidan Johnson is likely to face scrutiny for a high bump on St Kilda star Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.

The incident is certain to face MRO scrutiny, though St Kilda coach Ross Lyon was quick to defend the opposition player.

Fox Footy commentator Dwayne Russell was the first to notice the "late hit", remarking "Johnson got him".

The running defender came from the ground and went down into the rooms for a HIA test, but was cleared and returned to the game.

Despite that, electing to bump and making head contact will likely see Johnson handed a one-game ban, with the severity limited given Wanganeen-Milera returned.

"He's in some trouble, Johnson," Fox Footy's Jordan Lewis stated.

Russell added that the Dees forward made no attempt to smother the ball, intentionally going in to bump.

Speaking after the game, Lyon stated he has concerns for the future of the code given how easily players are getting suspended for these incidents.

"I like the physicality in the game," Lyon said after his side's win over the Demons.

"I'm concerned where the game is heading. I understand the head is sacrosanct and all that, but there was one where Hunter Clark went down to the ball and won it.

"I'm glad Alex Pearce got off. I'll leave it to (the MRO). You just hope every team gets a fair shake. Like, when you need to be fair, hopefully it's fair.

"I've got no comment. I think the game is good order. Sometimes incidents happen. Enough controversy finds me, right?"

Johnson has already missed a game this year with a suspension, after being offered a one-game ban for a dangerous tackle on GWS' Callum Brown.

The Saints will enjoy their win over the next week as they enter their bye.

Lyon cheekily telling reporters he's "heading to Vegas" for the week, he said with a wink.
