EXCLUSIVE: Jimmy Bartel flags last 'option' for Suns to keep superstar as links to Collingwood move 'getting stronger and stronger'
Gold Coast midfielder Matt Rowell is one of the most fascinating out of contract players in the AFL and he has been strongly linked with Collingwood.
The Suns appear to be on the verge of playing their first finals series ever, with the 23-year-old a key cog in their midfield.
They have seen many young stars choose the allure of playing for big rival clubs in the past, but losing the former number one draft pick would be a big blow.

Essendon great James Hird believes he would find it difficult to turn down a significant offer from the Magpies, if he was playing at Gold Coast.

When asked to 'buy', 'hold' or 'sell' Rowell re-signing at the Suns, Hird backed suggestions he will depart.
"The Collingwood rumour is getting stronger and stronger, isn't it," Hird told Nine's Eddie and Jimmy podcast.
"If you're Rowell, would you rather play at Gold Coast or Collingwood? He's a Melbourne boy. I remember watching Matt Rowell as a 12-year-old.
"On the idea of him staying at the Suns? I'm going to sell that.
Brownlow Medallist Jimmy Bartel believes Gold Coast will offer Rowell a short term deal to take him through to free agency, if they can't convince him to sign a longer contract.
"I reckon there's an option where the Suns put a two-year deal to him and go 'why don't you try and squeeze the lemon with this group. Let's see if we can rattle off some finals wins and then we'll readdress and see where your head is at'," Bartel said.
"I reckon Gold Coast will try and present 'hey we'll give you options', just stay please."
A two-year deal would take Rowell through to free agency.
The Suns have exited their bye week, where it was hoped the star on-baller would have made his decision.
They face GWS on Sunday afternoon in a huge clash for both teams' top eight hopes.
