Chris Scott's 'as bad as I've seen us play in a long time' admission as Cats fail to fire against Blues
Geelong coach Chris Scott believes his side was as poor as he has seen them play 'in a long time' during their three-goal loss to Carlton on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues led from start to finish and withstood a late surge to take home a crucial four points.
Scott however believes his group was off and was lucky to even be within striking range.

"That's as bad as I've seen us play in a long time," the Cats coach said after the game.
"There was a combination of things that added up to a lot.
"Sometimes you have those days and you hope they're rare and you lose by 70 points, but we hung in there and gave ourselves a chance to win, but every time we looked like drawing level, we'd make another error.
"Their hustle in and around the ball was really good, that's their game, especially early in the game they were strong there, but gee we gave them a chance with the way we used the ball and our failure to put them under pressure.
"And they've got too many good players to let them play the way they want."
Scott refused to name individual players, but put the onus on leaders who didn't play to their usual level.
"I hate to individualise, so I won't, you guys kind of know who they are, guys who for a long time have been so good for us, they weren't able to impose themselves on the game," he said.
"I don't think any were being sat on very hard … I just don't think we were able to execute well enough."

Star defender Tom Stewart continues to battle a knee injury and appeared to reaggravate it during the game, despite playing through it.
"Structurally OK, but bloody sore," Scott said of the veteran.
"He was limited. Good effort to keep punching on."
Tom De Koning, brother of Geelong defender Sam, is the big free agency name of 2025 and has been linked with a move out of the Blues.
The ruckman was excellent again in the win and Scott cheekily pointed out how good he would look in blue and white hoops.
"He's a good player. I can see why clubs are interested in having him on their list. He'd be fine down at Torquay, I reckon," he said.
Geelong will hope to bounce back next weekend when they face Collingwood at the MCG.
