Carlton two-time Coleman medallist Charlie Curnow is the latest big name star to be ruled out of round one with an injury.

The big man has undergone knee surgery to remove a screw, which will see him miss at least the first two rounds of the season for the Blues.

It's his third off-season surgery, which has also focused on his troublesome ankle.

The club played down the severity, with hopes he could make a return for their round one clash against Richmond, or round two against the Hawks.

"This procedure allowed for the removal of a screw that is no longer required from an old knee injury, which the club was able to identify as the cause of a small level of discomfort for Curnow over the last week," the Blues said on Tuesday.

"The club has been able to move quickly to have it corrected to ensure there will be no ongoing impact for Curnow once the season begins.

"Due to the minor nature of the surgery, Curnow will be able to recommence running within the week, full training in the coming weeks and be available to play in either round one or two."

He's not the only star to be bogged down by injury before the season begins, with GWS midfielder Tom Green also set to be sidelined for up to six weeks with a calf injury.

The Giants confirmed the young star pulled out of match simulation last week with "calf soreness", now revealing he'll miss between four to six weeks.

"The 24-year-old was involved in Friday's match simulation but played just one quarter before reporting calf soreness," the Giants said in a club statement on Tuesday evening.

"Following the session, Green was sent for a scan, with the results determining the extent of the calf strain.

"Green is expected to be sidelined for the next four to six weeks and will therefore will miss the start of the Giants' 2025 campaign."

Here is a list of all 18 clubs injury lists heading into the 2025 season.
