Pies great Anthony Rocca celebrates cancer remission with 'proud' brother Sav and bottle of bubbles

Collingwood great Anthony Rocca has shared a heartwarming moment with brother and fellow ex-AFL star Sav, toasting his remission after a cancer battle.

Rocca was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma - a type of cancer that begins in the lymphatic system - in July last year.

But after sharing a positive update on his battle in December, he's now taken to social media again to share even further joy.

Rocca and his brother popped open a special bottle of bubbles, one that Anthony had given Sav nearly 20 years ago when he was picked up in the NFL.

"Anthony bought me this bottle of Champagne Pol Roger when I signed at the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007, tonight we opened it to celebrate his official remission!" Sav said on Instagram.

"I'm so proud of Anth and his resilience and positivity throughout his journey. Love you bro."

Anthony, who played 242 games for the Pies and Swans, stepped down from his coaching role with Northern Knights under 18s after his initial cancer diagnosis in July 2024.

Former teammates and rivals shared their joy at the news of Rocca's remission.

"Great news," Carlton champion Anthony Koutoufides commented on Instagram.

Collingwood goalkicking great Travis Cloke shared a love heart.

In December, Rocca revealed he will still need to complete two years of maintenance chemotherapy.

Rocca played 220 of his 242 games with Collingwood and the remaining 22 with Sydney.
