Western Bulldogs to take 'conservative' approach with Adam Treloar's calf injury as season delay looms

There are fears Western Bulldogs midfielder Adam Treloar will miss the start of the 2025 season due to ongoing calf injuries.
The 31-year-old was injured during a session at Whitten Oval last week, with scans revealing he has sustained an acute muscle strain in that calf.
It means the midfielder will be sidelined for the next eight to 10 weeks, the club confirmed on Friday.

The club confirmed the veteran will now enter rehabilitation, in hopes of a return before the season begins.
Bulldogs head of sports medicine Chris Bell explained the plans the Dogs are putting in place to keep Treloar fit in the long term.

"Appreciating the continuity and significant amount of pre-season training that is required to support durability and performance across an AFL season, we will need to be conservative with Adam's rehabilitation and reconditioning timeline," Bell said via a club statement on Friday.
The Bulldogs will not confirm the details around Treloar's return to play plans, with the club keen for him to complete rehab before any decisions are made.

He is expected to miss games against North Melbourne, Collingwood and Carlton.
Treloar had a career-best season in 2024, capped off with his first All-Australian blazer and a second-placed finish in the Dogs best and fairest count.
He also brought up his 250th match.
