Hawks star Jack Ginnivan hits out after being busted at the pub on eve of elimination final

Jack Ginnivan has hit back after reports emerged that the Hawthorn small forward was at the pub on the eve of his side's elimination final against the Bulldogs.

Ginnivan was spotted at Richmond pub, the London Tavern on Thursday night with a drink in hand.

It follows his strange preparation for the 2023 grand final, when the then-Collingwood forward was caught at the Moonee Valley races.

At the time, Ginnivan said he was "on the waters" and was in bed by 10pm. The next day, he went on to win a premiership with the Pies.

A week later, he was traded to his childhood club, Hawthorn.

Now, as the Hawks prepare for a must-win clash at the MCG on Friday night, Ginnivan has landed in hot water again.

"More unique preparation for a unique player," SEN radio's Sam Edmund reported on Thursday.

"Jack Ginnivan out at Richmond's London Tavern until just before 9pm tonight, on the eve of Hawthorn's elimination final, 12 months after his GF eve trip to the races divided opinion.

"He's sticking to the routine, anyway."

However, this act wasn't one that the Hawks were unaware of.

Coach Sam Mitchell had given it the tick of approval.

After his night at the pub, Ginnivan took to his X account to share a picture of his bedside table, with a cup of tea and candle lit.

He captioned the photo "zzz", in response to Edmund's tweet from 2023, revealing that Ginnivan was at the Moonee Valley races.

The Hawks will play off for a spot in the semi final against Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval, who went down to Geelong on Thursday night by a whopping 84 points.
