Clayton Oliver departs pre-season training camp early amid health concerns
Melbourne star Clayton Oliver left the Demons' pre-season training camp in Lorne on Monday night as he continues to deal with ongoing health issues.
The situation adds to the midfielder's tumultuous off-season which included intense trade speculation as well as a brief hospital visit.
Speaking to The Age, Melbourne football boss Alan Richardson confirmed the 26-year-old midfielder was "taking a break".

"Clayton is taking a break as he continues to deal with some issues. We are continuing to support Clayton and managing his program in a way that prioritises his health and wellbeing," he said.

"His teammates and staff remain confident he is making good progress."
Oliver underwent a minor knee procedure post-season but hit the training track with a modified training program earlier than required for Melbourne's pre-season campaign.
He did not train on Saturday but made his way to the first day of the training camp before returning home to Melbourne.
The Demons will spend the week in Lorne before taking a break for the holiday period.
Last week, the 26-year-old was charged with driving without a license after it was suspended on medical grounds. He is set to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court in January.
Oliver's early exit from the pre-season camp follows club CEO Gary Pert's letter to Melbourne's members in which he continued his fiery defence of the Demons' culture.
"The club has been aware of and supporting Clayton with his personal circumstances for some time and is committed to continuing to do so," he said.

"While club leaders focus on the care and support Clayton needs, we also have a responsibility to uphold our strong club culture for the benefit of all our players and staff."
Oliver was hospitalised in October after suffering a seizure. It was under medical advice following the seizure that Oliver's driver license be suspended.
The four-time best and fairest winner played just 15 games in 2023 after suffering a hamstring injury mid-season.
